Child Therapist Schools
Becoming a child therapist is an excellent choice for those individuals who have a love for children and who enjoy working with and helping children overcome their problems and difficulties. Teachers and school guidance counselors thinking of career changes would be perfectly suited for a career as a child therapist as their experiences working with children could greatly help them in the field. There can be no greater feeling than to help a child who is in need find his or her way. Child therapists are a noble breed who's work helps to fix the tiny humans that grow up to be the presidents and leaders of the world.
Child therapists will want to focus their studies in areas like early childhood development and general childhood development. A child therapist will need to have a higher education degree in psychology or psychiatry but not necessarily in child psychology. A four year degree in some aspect of the psychology or psychiatry field will be required in order to continue on into the field of child therapy. If one pursues a Ph.D in psychology, during that course of study, they will learn the skills necessary to prepare to be a child therapist.
